Pixi’s Tattoos “Expression of art on skin”

Tattoos are an expression of art on skin.

Your body is such a big and intricate canvas to work with. One of the best parts of getting tattood, is that you are giving someone the opportunity to showcase some piece of who you are.

Why do I get tattooed? All my tattoos have a little story to them and I just love showing off little pieces of my personality on my body. Most of my tattoos I research for weeks . I designed 2 of them myself and both has a very special place for me.  Some jump out to me the morning of my appointment. Those give you such an adrenaline rush, the idea of something so permanent made in such a quick decision.

Here are some of my experiences and tips from my tattoo journey so far.

The most important thing is to have a good reference picture to show your tattoo artist. You need to go to them with a clear picture in your mind of what your tattoo should look like and of course a clear picture on paper. Be precise and think about how it will look in five years or 10 years. I would advise you not to pick a tattoo that will start to blur as time gets to the skin . Like a small face or tiny hands. Except if you are really confident in your tattoo artist.

Tattoo artists have so many different styles of doing tattoos and any one of them can fit your vision for your tattoo . They would interpret this their own unique way. Something like a skull can be styled in many ways. Some styles to research when choosing your next tattoo would be:

  • Traditional & Old School Tattoo Style.
  • Neo Traditional Tattoo Style.
  • Tribal tattoo Style.
  • Watercolor tattoo Style.
  • Blackwork tattoo Style.
  • Realism tattoo style.
  • Japanese tattoo style.

There are many more but these are a few to get you started. Personally I like the illustrated style and surreal style. Some of my tattoos have the option to change to a watercolor or a solid colour in the future.  Artist’s should warn you that watercolor tends to fade fast and some of your details might get lost if your picture consists mainly of the watercolor.
