This tattoo represents the murderous and cannibalistic part of us all. We’ve all wanted to kill someone at some point… Or eat them, right? At least tear off a body part with a single bite (or maybe that’s just me) Hannibal Leckter in Psycho created by Thomas Harris represents those thoughts that make us psychosocially incapable of maintaining a discussion when we are impulsive, killing is illegal, however many of us would like to one day be able to kill at least one person.
The State cannot behave like a criminal, and retributively condemn to the death penalty the one who has deprived the life of his victim. If they were more aware of this, it would be a little more moral and less complicated to kill someone.
Thus from this perspective the death penalty has been banned from our legislation.
However, it persists in the historical conscience to pay back in the same coin to someone who did not have such consideration with his fellow man, but practically that is not a punishment, but a reward.
Jorge Luis Borjes expressed his position against imposing the death penalty in the following way that gives much to reflect on and understand:
“CANNIBALISM IS AN ABOMINABLE PRACTICE, AND THAT IS NOT WHY WE ARE GOING TO EAT CANNIBALS”
